Description

Romaine lettuce ‘Little Gem, Lactuca sativa

A compact, sweet, crunchy salad, for fresh consumption. Well suited for growing in tubs or pots. Also suitable for cooking.

Sowing: As soon as the soil can be worked. Due to its frost tolerance, it can be sown from March/April at intervals of 3 weeks until September. Sowing depth: Place the seeds about 1 cm deep. Spacing: The seeds are placed in the soil in rows spaced 20 x 20 cm apart and covered with a thin layer of soil. Germination time: 10-14 days from 6°C to 24°C. Soil: Loose soil well prepared with humus. Location: Sunny to semi-shaded, sheltered site. Care: In the summer months, fertilize regularly and well-watered, moderately. Harvest: From May. If you reseed every 3 weeks, you can harvest fresh lettuce permanently until autumn. The plants are quite frost-hardy.

All seedlings grow exclusively in our self-made compost and we only feed them with our self-made, plant based natural fertilizers.
